VOTLÖND – The Wetlands Fund, is a major project within Audlind Nature Fund, with the goal of protection of the wetlands of Iceland, both in the highlands and lowlands of the country. The VOTLÖND Fund aims at protecting and strengthening the wetlands of Iceland and to improve the positive aspects of the important services of wetlands in the natural environment, such as the sequestration of atmospheric carbon dioxide, water conservation, circulation of nutrients, and in this way protecting the diversity of land and biota.
VOTLÖND supports the projects of societies and individuals that are connected to the reclamation of wetlands. VOTLÖND can also establish its own projects for wetlands reclamation and elated projects of bird protection, and it can provide consultation on wetlands protection and reclamation in cooperation with educational organizations.
VOTLÖND also supports education and increased awareness for the importance of the Icelandic wetlands in the international sphere.
